Youth Director

YOUTH DIRECTOR PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPOSSIBILITIES

  1. Provide spiritual leadership and guidance with the Ambassador Youth Ministry family (youth, parents of youth, and youth leaders) and coordinate the training of others to do likewise.
  2. Plan weekly activities while also providing a map of the year with a balance of learning, serving, worshipping, and having fun, with the goal of making disciples.
  3. Develop an annual youth ministry budget proposal, and administer that budget as approved by the Budget/Finance Committee.
  4. Effectively communicate events to parents.
  5. Seek to develop leaders in AYM providing them with opportunities to be involved in ministry and missions.
  6. Create and implement an overall youth outreach strategy for the church where we seek to reach students and their families with the gospel.
  7. Network with other like-minded leaders in area churches.
  8. Coordinate mission trips and summer camps and fall/winter retreats.
  9. Develop a strategy to involve students in the life of SCC.
  10. Coordinate and organize fundraisers to help support activities.  


REQUISITE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR YOUTH DIRECTOR:

  1. Be a born again believer in Jesus Christ.
  2. Have a mature faith that displays the fruit of the Spirit (Eph. 4:32).
  3. Has a spiritual life in line with the biblical qualifications for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-7).
  4. Gifted and called to youth ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for reaching them with the gospel.
  5. Is an engaging teacher, with a strong biblical background, who is in agreement with SCC Statement of faith.
  6. Organized, prepared, punctual, self-starter with a positive attitude.
  7. It is preferred but not required that the candidate possesses a Bachelor’s degree, or higher in a related field.
  8. Willing to become actively involved as a member of the SCC community.
  9. Thrives within a team environment; with the pastoral staff, the board, church staff, administrative team and volunteers.
  10. Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision, flexible to changes in procedures, and/or direction.
  11. Demonstrates a strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  12. Possesses strong computer skills and familiarity with social media tools and their use for ministering to youth.
  13. Lead staff efforts to maintain the youth ministry social media presence i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  14. Has experience working with AV, multimedia, tech, and presentation software.
  15. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  16. Be able to pass a background check.
