Art For Hearts 2012
6pm – 8:30pm March 3, 2012Art For Hearts is not an organization, ministry, or unified body of anything. Art For Hearts is simply a recognition of the talents and abilities that God has given to all of us, and the reality that within our world, pain exists. Every bit of support that is garnered from the Art For Hearts name is given, in full, to benefit those that are less fortunate, be it through a local mission, homeless shelter, or a mission trip. Art For Hearts is an outlet, an opportunity, for those with a gift for art and the sublime, and those who appreciate such art, to support our fellow man.
In the Spring of 2010, Steve Swartz had an epiphany. Being an amateur artist with a tremendous ability to capture art and put it to canvas, Steve noticed a lack of embrace for the idea of using a gift or talent such as art for the better of his community and church. Steve envisioned an opportunity at the upcoming yard sale for the youth group he volunteers with, to raise some money for their mission trip in the summer. Seeking others to get in on the act, and with the blessing of the youth pastor, Steve sought out local artists, within his church and some within friend circles, to submit some paintings as donations to be sold at silent auction with the proceeds benefiting missions. Bathed in prayer and with a few laborious days before the Yard Sale, Art For Hearts was born! We gathered enough material to create a respectable gallery of amateur art. Unbeknownst to those involved, this small effort, by a small group of people willing to put their talent out there, God moved in a significant way! Through the silent auction, Art for Hearts was able to raise over $1400 for the mission trip! This was an overwhelming success, seeing as none of the people involved envisioned God moving in such a way. In March 2011, we embarked on a new direction with Art For Hearts. Due to the overwhelming success of the initial auction, and the incredible interest of local artists to be involved, we will be organizing an Art For Hearts independent event, to be hosted by Suburban Christian Church. We would greatly appreciate your continued support of Art For Hearts and it’s mission to use seldom used talents to support our local and mission communities.
